YouTube again facing a problem as it failed to protect children through its community of online video content.A Redditor has highlighted what he calls a ‘wormhole into soft-core paedophilia ring on YouTube’,which the company is monetising upon.
Redditor Matt Watson discovered that YouTube’s recommended algorithm is facilitating paedophiles’ ability to connect with each other, trade contract information, and link to actual child pornography.
In his post he wrote, over the course of two days he was able to get access to such content through never-before-used YouTube accounts via innocuous videos.Matt says that big brands such as McDonald’s and Disney monetise these contents in YouTube.
This put YouTube under suspicion that they are promoting these contents silently. The tech giant previously said that they prohibited contents that endangers minors including comments.
The YouTube spokesperson responded to the issue, said that there are instances when the AI moderation systems are unable to sift out bad content and sometimes innocent recordings of children are re purposed and time sliced for abusive gratification and exploitation.
