Thrithala MLA and Congress leader V T Balram is protecting a murder accused who is absconding since 2017, accused DYFI state joint secretary P B Anoop on Friday.
Sharing the images of Balram enjoying with one Arun Gopinath, Anoop in his Facebook post said that Arun, who is the general secretary of the Overseas Indian Cultural Congress, Australia, is a wanted in the mysterious death of Monisha of Ponkunnam.
Monisha, a techie, allegedly committed suicide at her house in Melbourne on February 7, 2017. Parents later alleged that her husband Arun G Nair harassed Monisha demanding high amounts as dowry.
Arun and Monisha fell in love in 2016 and registered secretly before parents accepted them, a news report says.
“Before her death, Monisha, in a telephonic conversation with her mother, reportedly revealed that she was tortured by her husband,” said a Mumbai Mirror report on her death.
Arun had left for Australia a day after Monisha’s cremation in Kerala, raising the suspicion. Following this, parents filed a case with the police and the police issued a lookout notice for ‘Arun G Nair, son of Gopinathan Nair’. However, there are no details available on Arun Gopinath’s profile to ensure that he is the same Arun G Nair in the police notice. His profile address is Facebook/ag.nair which is relatively new with the first public post on October 1, 2018, on remembering Mahatma Gandhi.

Thye DYFI leader also shared a poster of ‘Nehru Jayanti and Cultural Event’ at Melbourne, organised on November 18, 2018. MLAs V T Balram and P T Thomas were the chief guests of the event.
Balram has shared several photos with Arun on Facebook during his Australia visit.
Neither Balram nor Arun has responded to the allegations.
