Umesh Yadav was India’s star performer of the match as the West Indies batting once again let them down while India, like in Rajkot, won the second Test with two days to spare to complete the cleansweep on Day three of the second Test at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal here on Sunday.
While Jason Holder dashed India’s plans to take a big first-innings lead as the visitors restricted India for 367 runs, allowing them only a 56-run lead, Indian bowlers, came out shining to bundle out the Caribbean side for 127, with Umesh scalping four wickets to complete a ten-wicket haul in the Test.
Ravindra Jadeja picked up three wickets while R Ashwin and Kuldeep Yadav got two and one wicket respectively.
With just 72 runs to win the Test, India chased down the target with all the ten wickets in hand as Prithvi Shaw (33 not out) and KL Rahul (33 not out), who registered his first two-figure score in the Test series, to clinch the series 2-0.
