Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been arrested at the Ecuadorian embassy in London, after the South American country withdrew the asylum.
He has been residing at the embassy since August 2012 after the Westminster magistrates court issued a warrant in a rape case against him.
Founded in 2006, WikiLeaks came to international attention in 2010, when they published a series of leaks provided by Chelsea Manning, a former United States Army soldier. She disclosed to WikiLeaks nearly 750,000 classified, sensitive, military and diplomatic documents related to the US actions in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In November 2010, Sweden had issued an international arrest warrant for Assange.
He may get extradited to Sweden and then to the US to face the charges for the leaks. In January 2017, before leaving the President post, Barack Obama commuted Manning’s sentence and freed her.
