Sister Licy Vadakkeyil, a witness in the rape case against former Bishop Franco Mulakkal on Saturday said that she has been harassed by the convent authorities after registering her statement against Franco. She expressed the fear of getting assassinated if things get worse.
“They did not give me money even to buy medicines. I begged on the road for money to buy some oil,” she told a private news channel adding that she was forced to change the statement made to the police.
“Franco accused that I am behind the complaints against him. When police came in search of me, I told them what I know,” she explained. In February, Sr Licy had complained to the police that she was detained by the convent. Moovattupuzha police gave her protection following a court direction and also registered a case against the convent.
The victim in the rape case originally shared her misery with Sr Licy.
On Friday, Franciscan Clarist Congregation accused Sister Lucy from Kerala’s Wayanad, who was part of a protest against Franco, was issued a final notice by church authorities and asked to leave the congregation.
