The Terminal 1,domestic terminal of Kochi International Airport is now functional after the renovation process on Wednesday with the Indigo flight from Hyderabad arrived at 10.10 am.
Airport director A C K Nair welcomed first passenger Adhithya Vikram Singh in the presence of CISF Senior Commandant M Sasikanth, CIAL managers K P Thankachan, V Jayarajan, Deputy General Manager C Dhinesh Kumar, Bini T I and Indigo airport manager Roby John.
The terminal 1 which is now exceptional by its architecture , had a renovation cost of 240 crore was inaugurated by Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan, on December 12.Now the terminal can handle 40,000 passengers at a time by 56 check-in counters, seven aerobridges and a modern conveyor belt system that can handle baggage from 12 flights at a time.
The domestic departures,now by the 2nd terminal will be shifted to the new terminal 1 by today evening.
