Rajya Sabha MP and BJP candidate from Thrissur Lok Sabha constituency Suresh Gopi on Wednesday claimed that he will link the Kochi metro with Thrissur town.
In a Facebook post, Gopi said: “To solve the headache of travelling from Thrissur to Ernakulam, it is necessary to connect the Kochi metro with Thrissur.”
He emphasised that it is not merely an election promise. “I will do it,” stated the poster.
Facebook users started ‘trolling’ Gopi on his post. “It will take maximum one hour to reach Ernakulam from Thrissur. 12 km long Kochi metro cost Rs 6000 Cr. Calculate how much will it cost for 57 km before making such wild suggestions,” one advised.
While one user asked to extend it to Kozhikode town, another one suggested a stop for Kochi Abu Dhabi flight at Sakthan Thampuran bus stand.
“Great idea. It was difficult to travel to Thrissur every year for Sureshettan’s birthday. Things will be easy if he wins,” a Suresh Gopi Fans and Welfare Association member opined.
