Kerala chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan requested to people to join the distress relief activities. He has asked people to donate to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund. He wrote ‘Unprecedented #KeralaFloods have caused havoc in our God’s own land. A large number of persons have died. Hundreds of our brothers and sisters have been temporarily displaced. Property and infrastructure worth crores of rupees have been damaged. We should stand shoulder to shoulder with our distressed fellow citizens and support them in this hour of crisis. Donate generously to the Chief Minister’s Office, Kerala Distress Relief Fund & help to tide over the calamity and to rebuild their lives.’
He also sought the help of NRI community around the globe through his facebook page. The state mechanism is effectively engaging in the damage control. We need enormous help and liberal support from the NRI community across the globe. I appeal members and collaborators of Lokakerala Sabha and Norka Roots to extend your generous support and assistance to bring back our brethren to normalcy and the flood ravaged areas to stability. He wrote. He also stated that It will take many months to bring back people and the state to normalcy.
Previously Cheif minister Pinarayi Vijayan donated one lakh rupees to Distress Relief Fund. Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has also announced that he will donate his one month salary to Distress Relief Fund.
