Prithviraj Sukumaran’s latest science fiction thriller ‘9’, is set to release on 7 February and the movie caught the attention of the audience even before the release with its brilliant trailer and music.
‘9’ is a psychological thriller with a tagline ‘beyond the world’ that plays out in nine days with a strong thrust on the evolving relationship between a father and son. Prithviraj Sukumaran plays Albert, an astrophysicist and a young father of seven-year-old son Adam.
Starring Mamta Mohandas, Godha fame Wamiqa Gabbi, and Prakash Raj, the film has been co-produced by Sony Pictures International and Prithviraj Productions. Mohamed last directed the Dulquer Salmaan-Nithya Menen-starrer 100 Days of Love.
From the character posters and trailers released earlier, it is known that Wamiqa plays Eva and Mamta’s character is called Annie in the horror-thriller. Prakash Raj plays Prithviraj’s mentor, a Nobel-winning scientist, and has an intriguing role in this thriller.
Earlier, on the trailer release of ‘9’, noted Bollywood filmmaker Karan Johar tweeted: “What an absolutely superb trailer Prithvi!!!!! Can’t wait to see the film!!!” Well, that gives an indication that 9 will be an impressive film with Prithviraj’s acting top notch.
Shaan Rahman has composed the songs of the film while Sekhar Menon – DJ and lead actor of the film Da Thadiya – is behind the background music.
Abhinandhan Ramanujan is the cinematographer and Shameer Muhammed is the editor.
Shot in Kerala and the Himalayas, the filming has been done for 9 using Red Gemini 5K camera, the first time for an Indian film. This film marks the entry of Sony Pictures into the Malayalam film industry as a distributor.
