The Kuwait Livestock Authority said the big cat was spotted in a residential area of the Kabad District. But before it could hurt anyone, the pet was captured and subdued with the help of a tranquilizer. Ali Al-Gattan, deputy director general of Kuwait Livestock Authority, said the lion might have slipped out of the owner’s cage.
The owner now could face up to three years in jail and a fine. Domesticating wild animals as pets is illegal in the country, but cases of people keeping exotic animals are going unmitigated.
