Nair Service Society, an influential caste organisation, will continue its ‘equidistant’ policy towards all political parties in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, general secretary G Sukumaran Nair said.
In the editorial published in its mouthpiece, Nair alleged that the ruling party ‘attacked’ the rituals of Hindus while UDF and BJP politicised it. However, the editorial took a soft touch on UDF while talking about Sabarimala issue.
With BJP joining hands with NSS over the issue of women entry to the Lord Ayyappa temple in Pathanamthitta and Narendra Modi government approving ‘upper caste quota’, political analysts have predicted that NSS might help them in the Lok Sabha polls.
Nairs are traditionally Congress’ vote bank. Thanks to the political developments, BJP is expected to eat into this causing trouble for UDF.
