Mohanlal’s evergreen movie to get 4K makeover and re-release

The superhit Mohanlal-Priyadarshan movie Thenmavin Kombathu will be restored into 4k resolution announced producer Mukesh R Mehta behind films Ezra, Godha, and Guppy on Mohanlal’s 58th birthday.

Mehta took Twitter convey birthday wishes to Mohanlal. He said that he has started his Malayalam film distribution career with Mohanlal’s Butterflies, which was released in 1993. Planning to release Thenmavin Kombathu in 4K on May 12, 2019, the date of the film’s 25th anniversary, he added.

The project will be handled by Mehta’s production and distribution company E4 Entertainment. The company’s first Malayalam production venture was Fahad Fasil’s Annayum Rasoolum, directed by Rajeev Ravi in 2012.

Two years later the E4 Entertainment got into the distribution business with Rajeev Ravi’s movie-Njan Steve Lopez. Recently the company has distributed Sudani from Nigeria starring Soubin Shahir.

Thenmavin Kombathu with Mohanlal, Shobhana, Nedumudi Venu, Sreenivasan, Kaviyoor Ponnamma in major roles was released in 1994 and is one of the biggest success in Priyadarshan’s career.

The film won the award for Best Popular Film at the Kerala State Film Awards and also won two National Awards – Best Production Design (Sabu Cyril) and Best Cinematography (K.V Anand).
