Migrant worker dies in Kollam after he was attacked by men for allegedly stealing a hen
Few months after tribal man Madhu’s death, another shocking incident reported in Kollam district in Kerala. A migrant worker from West Bihar died. The deceased has been identified as Manik Roy, 32, from West Bihar after he was attacked by two men who’d accused him of stealing a hen.
According to police, Manik Roy had been working and living in Anchal with his son and other relatives for the past few years. On June 24 he was walking home carrying a hen when a group of people, mostly residents, claimed the hen had been stolen and started beating him.
He died following an injury to his head which he had sustained during the attack.
The gang left the bleeding Roy on the road and passersby took him to a private hospital from where he was discharged two days later.
On Sunday he became unconscious again on Sunday and was taken to a private hospital. When his condition worsened, he was taken to the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
The police reportedly arrested Sasidhara Kurup, 60, of Himshailam at Panayamcheri, alleged to be part of the mob that assaulted Roy.
