The announcement of the Lok Sabha election results may delay in Kerala at least by 5 hours, said Chief Election Commissioner Teeka Ram Meena IAS.
The Supreme Court on Monday had directed the Election Commission to count five VVPATs instead of one in an Assembly segment.
Around 30-35 VVPATs with a maximum of 2000 votes in one machine will have to be counted and matched with the EVM count.
However, this will affect only the official declaration. The results will be clear as soon as the EVMs are counted. Any discrepancy between the EVM and VVPAT could lead to a court battle.
