A private news channel on Wednesday released a sting operation video of Kozhikode MP and UDF candidate M K Raghavan who allegedly sought bribe of Rs 5 cr from a group approached him.
Raghavan on Thursday in a press conference denied the allegations and said that he suspects the involvement of rival CPIM’s ‘conspiracy’.
A Hindi private channel’s employees approached MP as businessmen and offered Rs 5 Cr as a bribe for helping them out in buying 15 acres of land in the town. Raghavan asked the reporters if they can come to the office in Delhi to hand over the money. When they said yes, he asked them to contact his PA in Delhi.
MP alleged that the audio is manipulated.
CPIM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan asked the MP to withdraw from the election fray. “Attempts by the MP to bring in CPIM in the issue will not be fruitful,” he stated.
State Chief Election Commissioner, meanwhile, sought a report from Kozhikode District Collector.
