Kerala to receive heavy rainfall till 17, warning issued for fisherman

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heavy rainfall in Kerala till July 17. 12 to 20 centimetres of rain may hit the state from Tuesday. The meteorological department has also warned of landslides and floods.

Heavy downpour would hit the districts north of Alappuzha and hilly regions. The department also predicted the possibility of landslides in Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Kasargod districts.

Strong winds from the North-western direction, with speeds reaching up to 35-40 kmph, is likely along the Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts.

The fishermen are cautioned against venturing into the sea for 24 hours from Tuesday 2 pm as heavy tides might occur in the western parts of Lakshadweep and northern parts of the Arabian sea.
