The Kerala Food and Civil Supplies Department has decided to implement its decision to reduce the prices of bottled water and for the purpose government will bring an ordinance.Minister for Food and Civil Supplies P. Thilothaman said that the government will bring ordinance soon to include bottled water under the Essential Commodities Act.
Taking the request of the companies into consideration, the government will think about fixing the price of bottled water at Rs 13. Even though companies in Kerala had reached an understanding to sell bottled water for Rs 12, some companies were not ready to do so.
Some merchant organization also did not reduce the price. In this scenario, the government is planning to bring bottled water under Essential Commodities Act.
Thilothaman said that the government will not allow the sale of bottled water at Rs 20. The legal measures to implement the regulation of prices are progressing, the minister said.
