One person died and 30 were injured when a massive grenade blast rocked Jammu bus station at about 12 noon here on Thursday. The injured in the blast were shifted to the Government Medical College (GMC) hospital.
IGP Jammu Manish Kumar Sinha said that the police are following leads for further investigation into the matter. Early visuals from the blast site also showed damaged vehicles. The area has been cordoned off, and assessment is currently underway- Jammu police said in a briefing. 15 people have been detained so far for further questioning.
The bus stand is located at the heart of Jammu city and people have been asked to stay away from the spot. Police officials are on the spot and are inspecting the blast site. The blast comes on the backdrop of the unrest in the state following the February 14 Pulwama terror attack. The state has been on a high alert in the aftermath of the Pulwama attack that also triggered an escalation between India and Pakistan.

As per the latest updates, 30 people have been referred to the Government Medical College (GMC). Five people are critical after they suffered splinter injuries.

Five of the admitted individuals have suffered critical injuries. Further details regarding their health are awaited.
