Commenting on the possibilities of the political parties in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP Yogam) general secretary Vellappally Natesan on Wednesday told media persons that it will be a miracle if Kummanam Rajasekharan wins from Thiruvananthapuram.
He also said that sitting MP and Congress leader Shahi Tharoor is not popular among the downtrodden in the constituency. “He may be a pet of upper class, but Kummanam and C Divakaran are more popular,” he said.
Though Natesan clarified that he will not support any particular political party and repeatedly denied to comment on the possibilities of his son Tushar Vellappally’s candidature, he said A M Arif of LDF will take the Alappuzha constituency back from UDF. Congress is yet to decide its candidate for the seat as the sitting MP K C Venugopal refused to contest again.
No hope for NDA
Responding to the questions on the winnability of NDA in Kerala, Natesan ruled out the possibilities except for Thiruvananthapuram.
“How many seats BJP have an advantage in Kerala? Even they talk only about Thiruvananthapuram. If Rajsekharan wins, it will be a miracle,” he said.
Natesan refused to comment on the reports that NDA ally Bharath Dharma Jana Sena leader and his son Thushar Vellappally might contest from Thrissur. BJP national leadership reportedly demanded Thushar’s candidature in the constituency.
He said that no one can contest in elections while holding positions in SNDP. Thushar is the vice president of the Yogam.
