Ganesh Kumar MLA accused of manhandling youth, abusing woman

Former minister and MLA K B Ganesh Kumar and his driver allegedly manhandled youth and abused his mother near Anchal in Kollam on Wednesday for not letting his car pass.

The woman and her son filed a police complaint against the four-time Kerala legislator Ganesh Kumar.

Ananthakrishnan, 22, said he and his mother was travelling on a narrow road near Anchal when Ganesh Kumar’s car came from the opposite side. Ganesh Kumar, who was enraged as his vehicle could not overtake, got off his car and assaulted the youth, he added. Soon, his driver also joined the attack.

“I stopped the car and since there was more space for Kumar’s car to go a little back, so both the cars could pass through, we thought he would reverse his car. But he, instead of doing that, came out and hit me and showered abuses on my mother,” IANS reports quoting Ananthakrishnan as saying.

Ananthakrishnan and his mother have sought medical treatment at a nearby hospital.

A former minister in the UDF government, Ganesh Kumar had been a movie actor for several years before entering politics. Ganesh Kumar had retained his Pathanapuram legislative assembly seat with the support of the LDF in the 2016 election. The actor-turned-politician is the son of former minister and Kerala Congress (B) chief R Balakrishna Pillai.
