Sans Francisco: The largest social networking site of the world recently admitted that it does not remove content simply for being false. “Even though Facebook issues rules against hate speech and personal attacks, false contents does not undergoes censorship on its platform”, opined Monika Bickert, Facebook’s head of Global Policy Management while responding to a series of questions which explores the issues which Facebook confronts.
Facebook would not allow hate speech as it develops an environment where people would feel personally attacked. But it goes careful by not removing contents when somebody simply asserts it as falsified content. The platform always tries to counter the circulation of such content.
This decision becomes significant when rumors in social media platforms have been linked up with real life violence in various countries including India.
