The tech giant Facebook to face huge fine over the data leaks and privacy violation from US Federal Trade Commission.
The highest penalty ever imposed before by the US FTC was upon Google on 2012 of $22.5 million for privacy violations. Although Facebook will be charged with a hefty fine than that of Google, reported Washington Post.
According to The New York Times reports, the FTC “is in the advanced stages of its investigation into whether Facebook violated privacy rules and is expected to seek large fines from the company”.
In 2018 Facebook was accused of privacy violations as the data breach by the British pilitical consulting firm Cambridge Analytica collected 87 million users data without permission and later in last September a photo bug leaked millions of Facebook users private photos.
However in December, Facebook disproved a New York Times report that claimed it allowed large technology companies and popular apps like Netflix or Spotify access to its users’ personal information.
