Facebook launched a new hub called “LOL” to bring back the kids in a happy platform noticing they spend more time in Instagram and WhatsApp and are becoming mentally sick while using the social media apps. The tech giant Facebook is presently attributing new feature LOL with selected users, based around short, shareable video clips. It is yet to decide if “LOL” will become a stand-alone app or be available in the main Facebook app.
Recently,The app has drawn criticism with more than 100 child health experts writing an open letter to CEO Mark Zuckerberg ,urging him to discontinue the app.In this context, the company initiated this new attempt to make the teen mentally healthy and happy while using Facebook.
LOL is packed with fun GIF-loops and videos so that the teen will spend some time away with Instagram and Snapchat. Categories like “For You”, “Animals”, “Fails” and “Pranks”, “LoL” will be a special feed of funny videos and GIF-like clips.”We are running a small-scale test and the concept is in the early stages right now,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
The Facebook has over 2.2 billion users globally, including 300 million in India, whereas Facebook owned photo sharing app Instagram is more popular among teenagers.
Thus gradually Facebook’s image is also getting negative and as more teens move into Instaram the peer pressure will also reduce the use of the app.
