After heavy floods devasted the Gods Own Country, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Sunday urged all Malayalis across the globe to donate one month salary to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) to rebuild the state.
The CM asked those unable to do so to donate three days’ salary for 10 months. Making the appeal on Facebook, Vijayan said, “Malayalis should be united to build a new Kerala. Kerala’s strength is not its treasury but support of the world.”
“It may not be possible for everyone to donate their one-month salary in one go. Instead, it would be easier if they could break the amount into 10 months and donate,” said Pinarayi.
The death toll has now touched 302 and over four lakh are still in relief camps. In many districts, people have started moving from camps to their homes.
