DGP Jacob Thomas will not contest in 2019 Lok Sabha polls,as the government yet to give him a voluntary retirement,in order to contest in the upcoming elections.
He blamed the attempt t o seize his VRS was a deliberate move from the government .“If I had applied for retirement some other time or citing some other reason, it would have been accepted easily,” he said.
He also stated that it was quite normal for officers to take voluntary retirement after 30 years of their service and reluctance to do so by the government could be politically motivated.
The IPS officer has a 33 year service background and it is expected that he will easily get VRS.
Jacob Thomas, who is currently serving his suspension on graft charges, was announced as the Chalakudy candidate of Twenty20, the Corporate Social Responsibility arm of the Anna- Kitex group in Kerala. The firm came to power in Kizhakkambalam gram panchayat of Ernakulam district by winning 17 of the 19 seats in 2015. It is the only local body in the country being administered by a non-political group.
