he death toll in the mining dam collapse and mudslide in Brazil reached 58 as rescuers continued their search for survivors late into the night on Sunday. Hundreds are still missing and the toll is expected to go up.
The burst dam at Corrego do Feijao mining complex triggered a deadly landslide and buried nearby homes, vehicles and roads in Brumadinho. The search and rescue operations will continue till “the last body is found”, a spokesperson of the fire department told reporters. Rescuers also found a bus full of bodies.
Over 300 people are still missing, and the list of the missing persons is continuing to grow. Officials have said that most of the people unaccounted for have been presumed dead. According to the numbers given by officials, 192 people have been rescued alive, 23 of whom were hospitalised with injuries.
