A superfast train Dayodaya Express between Jabalpur and Ajmer derailed near Jaipur here on Friday, officials said.
The engine of the Dayodaya Express overturned and the immediate coach after it derailed near Sanganer railway station 15 km south of Jaipur around 1 pm, a North Western Railway spokesperson said.
The incident blocked the railway line which led to a delay of several other trains. The rescue operation began as soon as authorities came to know about the mishap. The loco pilot of the train was injured, but there was no immediate report of injury to any passenger, police said.
“The incident occurred near the station when it was running towards Jaipur junction from Ajmer,” Sanganer police station incharge Lakhan Khatana said.
The railways administration launched a helpline number where people can get details about the accident. Senior railway officials said that only the loco pilot sustained minor injuries in the accident. No passenger was hurt.
Dayodaya Express runs between Jabalpur and Ajmer.
