The Congress party has again postponed the discussions on its national president Rahul Gandhi’s candidature in a second constituency. The grand-old-party is expected to announce it on Wednesday.
The state leadership of Kerala and Karnataka had invited him to contest from the state. T Siddique who began the campaign at Wayanad in Kerala declared that he will withdraw from the fray for Rahul.
As BJP declared that they are fielding its youth wing leader from Bengaluru South, reports on Narendra Modi’s venture in south India became a closed chapter. Congress has also announced all the candidates for Karnataka which makes Wayanad the only option for Rahul.
Since Left parties have signalled red following the news about Wayanad, Congress will have a comprehensive look at the repercussions of it. The Kerala unit of the party believes it can sweep the state if Rahul contest from the there, which will make the Left much weaker and Congress would not require their support at the Centre.
Even if not numerically, the Left parties are an unavoidable force. Since Rahul is in good terms with CPIM, he may not choose to break the ties, reported national media. The Congress then will have to withdraw one of its Karnataka candidates if Rahul needs to contest from South.
