The Congress party is expected to take a final call on Monday over its national President Rahul Gandhi’s candidature in south India.
The state factions of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Kerala had invited Rahul to contest in their states. The party, however, filled Sivaganga in Tamil Nadu and Bengaluru Rural in Karnataka, which were speculated as Rahul’s probable seats. Former union minister P Chidambaram’s son Karti Chidambaram will contest from Sivaganga while Karnataka minister D K Shivakumar’s brother D K Suresh is named for Bangalore Rural.
Only Wayanad is the remaining option in south India for Rahul. Congress and BJP have not cleared the names for Bangalore South constituency as Narendra Modi is reportedly eyeing to fight from there.
