The Congress on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of bribing voters in the northeastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Congress spokesperson Randeep Singh Surjewala told reporters that the police on Tuesday night had seized Rs 1.8 crore from Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu’s convoy.
This money was to distribute to people ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally in Arunachal Pradesh’s Pasirghat on Wednesday, Surjewala accused. He also released a few videos to prove his claim.
Surjewala claimed that the money was counted in the presence of the Election Commission officers. Though EC officials confirmed about the raid, they remained tight-lipped about any affiliations to political parties.
