Parliament on Thursday announced that the implementation of High Security registration plates(HSRPs) in all vehicles from April 1 to protect counterfeiting.
The new HSRP is a chromium-based hologram applied hot stamping on number plates both at the front and back along with ,ingressed IND legend,third licence plate and laser etched 9-digit code in left hand corner.
“The ministry has notified mandating that HSRP including the third registration mark, wherever required, shall be supplied by vehicle manufacturers along with the vehicle manufactured on or before April 1,2019 to their dealers.”told Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari in Lok Sabha.
In June 2018, Gadkari called upon a public domain meeting inviting suggestions to the 1989 rule of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, and the revision order of 2001,thus formulated some adaptations then.Together the Automotive Research association of India,Central Institute of Road Transport,Central Road Research Institute, and Indian Automobile Manufacturers attended the section and supported the modifications.
In the HSRP, the chromium based hologram sticker affixed on the inner side of the vehicles windshield would posess the actual registration mark having all the registration details of the vehicle
