The Bahujan Samajwadi Party(BSP) decided to contest a transgender candidate named Kajal Nayak from Korei assembly seat for upcoming assembly elections in Odisha.
Kajal is a social worker from Jaipur region and President of the transgender rights as well as on on local issues.
“There are many issues in the region which need to be raised along with issues related to transgender community.I want to raise issues of transgenders along with the issues of people of the region,” said Kajal.
Earlier,Kajal has approached many political parties,but no one was willing to give her a ticket for the election and then BSP decided to field her in Korei assembly.
“We have decided to give ticket to Kajal Nayak because BSP believes in social empowerment of all communities.No one talks about transgenders,if we want their development we have to bring them in main stream,”said BSP leader Krushna Chandr Sagaria.
The Odisha assembly elections for 147 assembly constituencies will commence on April 11.
