The NDA ally Bharath Dharma Jana Sena (BDJS) on Tuesday announced its candidates to three out of five seats it contesting in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Speaking to media persons at Cherthala, BDJS president Thushar Vellappally clarified that he will contest. However, his party is yet to decide whether he should contest from Thrissur or Wayanad, the two seats which remain unannounced.
The party will field T V Babu from Alathur, Biju Krishnan from Idukki and Thazhava Sahadevan from Mavelikkara.
The BJP national leadership had earlier demanded the candidature of Thushar from the Thrissur constituency. BJP state general secretary K Surendran was also keen about contesting from state’s ‘cultural capital’. However, when Thushar agreed to contest, Surendran was fielded at Pathanamthitta.
The uncertainty over Rahul Gandhi’s candidature from Wayanad led to the confusion in BDJS, TV channels reported on Monday. If Rahul decides to contest from the hill region, Thushar is keen to fight against him thanks to the high media attention.
