Kerala is always set example for good governance. The government is always striving to do good things for its people. In spite of that, now the government turned to look after the welfare of non-Keralite labours. The first step was providing insurance for them. Then the government coined the term guest labourers. Now the government all set to inaugurate ‘Apna Ghar’ for non-Keralite labourers.
Apna Ghar is the programme which provides shelter to those labourers who is from other states for a nominal rent. Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate it on August !12th at Kanjikode in Palakkad. The building situates in the vice park of Kanjikode industrial area. There are 64 rooms in the house. 10 people can stay in one room. Bhavanam foundation under the ministry of employment has the responsibility of the house. The multi-laddered mattress had been set up. about 300 people have been registered for the room. the room has given according to the id card provided by the owner and aadhar card. Monthly rent is 800 rupees for one person.
The building was constructed for 14 crore rupees. It is situated in 44,000 square feet area. There are 32 kitchens, 96 bathrooms, 8 dining halls are there in the building. Spaces are provided to wash and bath. separate cupboards have been set to keep the private things safe.
The special agency has been set to clean the hostel. 24 hours security system is also provided. The plans have approved to construct ‘apna ghar’ in Ramanattukara in Calicut, Kalamassery in Ernakulam. Two acres of land has been bought under Bhavanam foundation in these places.
