The Indian Army, here on Tuesday, appealed to the Kashmiri youth to put down the guns and ‘surrender’. Addressing a joint press conference of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Lt Gen Dhillon, Corps commander of Srinagar-based 15 Corps warned that ‘anyone who has picked up a gun will be eliminated’.
“Mothers play an important role in Indian society. Please tell your children to surrender, so that they can join the mainstream. Else, anyone who has picked up a gun will be eliminated, unless he surrenders. A complete synergy between Army, JKP, Special Operations Group (SOG) and intelligence agencies,” Dhillon said during the briefing.
Commenting on the February 14 attack by JeM terrorist which resulted in the death of 40 CRPF personnel in Pulwama in South Kashmir, Dhillon said that the attack was carried out from ‘Pakistan and controlled by Pakistanis’ from across the border. “Pakistan was controlling, coordinating and fabricating the attack,” Dhillon said. “Any terrorist who comes to Kashmir valley, will not go back,” he said.
“In less than 100 hours, we eliminated the JeM leadership handled from Pakistan,” he announced while underlining the Army’s endeavour to ensure that the civilian casualties are under control during and after the encounter. He further appealed to the people of the state to stay away from encounter sites.
IGP Kashmir said that the investigation in the February 14 CRPF attack are in advance stages and added that the forces will share details as and when the investigation progresses.
