The police have taken into custody Popular Front state vice president K. H. Nassar in connection with the murder of SFI leader and student of Maharaja’s college Abhimanyu. He was nabbed from his house in Mulanthuruthy in the late hours on Thursday night. Aluva police have seized some documents during their search in his house.
Nassar was questioned at a secret location in Muvattupuzha till Friday morning. Later, he was hospitalised due to high blood pressure. The search operation in Nassar’s house was planned based on the information collected from those who were arrested in Aluva in connection with the murder.
Nassar has also served as the state general secretary and treasurer of Popular Front. He is a member of the editorial board of the newspaper in control of Popular Front. State Police Chief Loknath Behera, who arrived in Kochi on Friday, gathered information in this regard. Though police had searched the residence of Popular Front state president Nasarudheen Elamaram the other day, they could not find anything.
The police have confirmed that some of the culprits have escaped to abroad. The Intelligence wing has reported that there is a campaign going on against the police stating their inefficiency in not nabbing the main accused due to their sluggishness.
