A Kerala trans woman got assaulted and attacked by three men at Kuttipuram, Malappuram on Wednesday. Nellanjana a sex worker in Malappuram being verbally abused and physically assaulted when she refused to go with them.
Neelanjana was standing near a bridge at Kuttipuram around 2 am with her friend, but when she noticed that a maruti alto car being stopped in a rush and the men in the car started to assault her while taking her purse ,money and ID cards forcefully and dragged her in the road when she refused to go with them.
The queerythm community posted the injured pictures of Nellanjana in Facebook on Wednesday commenting, another trans woman got attacked.
According to the Transgender Justice Board Member, Viji Rahman, “When Neelanjana refused to go with them,found something fishy, they kept insisting. At first they seemed friendly. When she said no, they appeared to go away but then turned their car and came back to her again,this time, they were verbally abusing her, announcing that they would not let trans people live and would rape them.
They also tried to molestate her by questioning her gender and pulled her hands. They were trying to force her into the car. When she resisted, one man stamped her on the chest and she fell down. They then dragged her along with the car for a short distance, and went away with her purse that had Rs 4800 in it and her identity cards, and also her phone,”
She took a treatment at Kuttippuram government hospital for shoulder,knee and palm injuries and filed a complaint against three unknown assaulters at Kuttippuram police station.
