In a very short span of two days, 25 people were diagnosed with jaundice at Parambath in Kozhikode district.
Wells were chlorinated and ward-level health squads were formed in Thalakkulathur grama panchayat in the district to prevent the outbreak of disease.
Nineteen people were diagnosed with the disease on Monday and the rest on Tuesday.
A health squad with health activists had been formed and the Health Department’s district-level task force would hold a meeting on Wednesday to assess the situation, Doctor Jayashree, Kozhikode District Medical Officer said in a statement.
The public has advised to take precautionary measures and have been advised to maintain hygiene while cooking and having food.
Also, people who are diagnosed with jaundice should not prepare or serve food and they should wash their hands regularly, the release said.
According to reports, officials have to go to schools to address students about good hygiene practices and preventive measures.
